Talented students in the Territory deserve more exposure to professional opportunities .

Blue Sky Connect Incorporated is a non-for-profit organisation founded in 2017 by teachers working in the Northern Territory.

Through our experience as teachers in the Territory, we have noticed that many of our high achieving students do not have the same access to high aspirational environments that their peers ‘Down South’  or with more professionally connected families would have. This means that talented students are handicapped in their pursuit of competitive university programs and scholarship applications, and also believe that they need to leave the Territory to succeed in their careers.

How you can be involved

We want to partner with workplaces in the Territory to overcome these barriers, and enable our students to dream big for their futures and tangibly experience the options available to them.

We would like to invite you to partner with us by taking on a student(s) for a week of work experience at your organisation. These students have been especially chosen by their merit rather than family connections. Their teachers have put forward these students as talented, driven and interested in your industry.

What impact will this bring

Your partnership will provide students with a priceless experience but also provide your organisation with a positive corporate image, an opportunity to give back to the community and access a talent pipeline of talented local young people.

We’ll share stories of your students and workplaces across our networks to promote your profession to motivated high school students.

To help out a young Territorian, get in touch with us and we will link you up with a handpicked student who is interested in experiencing your workplace.

FAQs:

  • Do we need insurance to cover a student? No, the NT Department of Education or the Catholic Church (for Catholic schools) hold insurance to cover all students on work experience placements.
  • Do our employees need an Ochre Card? No, not unless your organisation regularly engages in child-related work.
  • What if we don’t have enough suitable work to keep students occupied? We have a number of self-contained projects that students can work on independently that are related to your industry and their career. Of course if you have other tasks they can complete that is fantastic and these projects are completely optional.
  • Are you a charity? Yes, Blue Sky Connect Incorporated (ABN 94505421455) is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission.
